Of Membranes & Red Blood Cells
Today my experiment of the day is to extract red blood cells(by pricking ourselves with a needle) and then immerse them into 3 different type of solutions(isotonic, hypertonic and hypotonic) and observe what will happen to the cells. =D
Overall it was quite fun seeing your blood projected on the big screen and helping friends to prick their fingers muahhahahahhaa. =X
The basket to dispose our stuff. =3
Step 1:
Prepare the needle.
Prepare the solutions.
A: Hypotonic
B: Isotonic
C: Hypertonic
Step 2: Sterilise your finger with alcohol swab.
Step 3: Prick your finger
Before
After
Step 4: Squeeze the blood out and drip it on to a slide

Put a cover slide over the specimen.
More blood. XD
And more~~~
Step 5: Observe under microscope!
My blood is on the screen!
Even bigger screen~
RBC in hypotonic solution. Can see clearly the cells have haemolysed.
RBC in isotonic solution. All the cells nice nice. =D
RBC in hypertonic solution. All cells crenated. =D
That's all for now. =)
