Bali Trip 2014 - Day 6: Alleycats Restaurant, Beachwalk, Hard Rock Hotel, Ngurah Rai International Airport
Finally I have reached my final post of my Bali trip more than 1 year ago. On our last day there wasn't much planning as we just planned to stroll around Kuta while we wait for our flight in the afternoon.
Famous water park. Will try some other day. Seems like it's pretty famous with the ang mohs. |
The first thing in the morning was to find what to eat on Trip Advisor since we had not planned anything. So after a 5 minute quick search we settled on Alleycats which is one the more highly rated breakfast shops. The shop is located at Popies 1 lane so it was a good 20 minute walk from our hotel. It is more nearer to Legian than to Kuta actually. Fortunately it rained early in the morning so we really enjoyed the cool breeze while doing some window shopping at the same time.
Situated at the corner of the lane, this restaurant does not look really intriguing. Apart from selling food it is also a bar and they even have a pool table for tourists to just chill and relax.
We were given a simple menu once seated. The English breakfast set caught my eye immediately. At less than RM15 you can get so much different types of food and a drink. Back in Malaysia the cheapest breakfast set would probably cost you more than RM20, and some may reach RM30 which is down right ridiculous. Considering the price I added hashbrowns and fried mushrooms to make the set even more fulfilling.
After a short wait, breakfast is finally served!!! Just look at this beautiful dish. All the food was cooked to perfection and it is certainly one of the best and economically viable breakfast sets I've ever tried. Upon eating this meal I hardly order breakfast sets in Malaysia anymore because they are really, really over priced.
Next on the agenda was some last minute shopping. My friend really wanted to buy some Wakai shoes so we headed to the new mall in Bali: Beachwalk. Nothing fancy about this mall though. Probably just another place for tourists to hang out and chill and avoid the scorching sun at times.
The last stop of our Bali trip was none other than Hard Rock Hotel. With its own artificial beach, guests do not even have to leave the premise to experience the sand and beach volleyball. Maybe one day I will just splurge on a 3 day 2 night stay here. But at few hundred USD per night it will be a huge 'maybe'...
At around noon it's finally time to bid goodbye to Bali as we headed off to the airport. The taxi ride only costs us a few ringgit and it was certainly the cheapest airport taxi ride I've ever taken haha. Although my hotel is slightly far from the happening areas in Kuta but it's distance to the airport makes up for it somehow.
Despite being a really new airport, there wasn't a lot of shops and restaurants inside. And the design was in such a way that all tourists have to pass by the various shops/stalls before arriving at the departure hall. What makes matter worse is that at my hall there wasn't even any seats! We had to resort to sit on the floor lol. Why do you even want to open an airport like that? Simply quite unacceptable for a place this stature.
Overall Bali had been amazing but I feel this place is more suited for couples unless there is a big group of friends who are into water sports. I would definitely come back again with another half and spend more time at Ubud perhaps. Or rent a private villa at Seminyak. Haha.
